The Story
The Founders
Gardens of Steel was founded in Melbourne 21 years ago in 1998 by Graham Kenneday and William Barkley.
Graham graduated from Swinburne University with a degree in Graphic Design, where he honed his skills and further developed his passion for creativity and quality of all sorts. He believed strongly that a void existed in quality custom designed landscape steel-work.
William; one of Australia’s most skilled and experienced steel workers, who’s professional career boasts the development of aircraft prototypes during Port Melbourne’s manufacturing heyday, teamed up with Graham. They both set the task to develop a company, of which would change how we view steel construction in Australia and the world over.
The History
Since inception, the Gardens of Steel team has grown along with its distinguished list of clients Australia wide and now spreading to England; where inspiration has been taken from the quality of craftsmanship, pioneered in Britain by blacksmiths dating back to the Iron Age.
The Difference
The marriage of new technology, such as laser cutting, in conjunction with contemporary design style, traditional manufacturing techniques and philosophy of quality above all else; are some of the many reasons why Gardens of Steel truly is, unique.
